Sara Jane Hymes - I enjoy ringing Handbells at St Pauls UMC and have been doing so for more than 25 years! Each person who rings in a handbell choir usually rings 3 or 4 bells and sometimes 7-8 (the higher bells, where people play the octave higher bells also). Our choir has a 5 octave set of both handbells, and handchimes--which are sort of like 'sticks', and sound much different. One must be able to count very well to play handbells, because you only play when your note is written on the music and you must count to come in on time! |
