In CC this May: Iditarod Poodles

Updated: Mar 14, 2023

In 1989 an enterprising Alaskan by the name of John Suter participated in the grueling 1,200-mile Iditarod race with a crack sled team of... purebred standard poodles. The dogs are known, after all, as much for their strength and endurance as for their shape-able floofy fur. The team not only finished, an achievement in and of itself, but performed pretty well, coming in 38th in a field of only 52 finishers. Suter and his lead dog appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and shared their story. We have a poster created by print artist John Hammons featuring the famous poodle team that is signed by musher Suter. Mounted in a handmade frame.

And because you need to see this: below is a link to the Tonight Show appearance: https://nationalpurebreddogday.com/poodles-in-the-iditarod/
